The entrance hall of PGD Aparthotel is more than just a transitional space; it serves as a defining architectural statement that sets the tone for the entire project. Designed in 2024 by SHOVK in collaboration with 19 Būro, and located in Bali, Indonesia, the aparthotel spans approximately 8000 square meters. From the very first moment of entry, the space establishes a strong identity, introducing visitors to a refined environment where design, atmosphere, and experience come together seamlessly.
Rather than functioning as a conventional reception area, the entrance is conceived as an immersive spatial experience. It transforms the simple act of arrival into something meaningful and memorable, where guests are not just entering a building but stepping into a carefully curated architectural narrative. The scale, openness, and composition of the space create an immediate sense of presence, setting it apart from traditional hospitality design.
The design focuses heavily on the emotional impact of first impressions, using light, shadow, and materiality to shape perception. Every element is intentionally chosen to evoke calmness, sophistication, and a sense of quiet luxury. The restrained palette and clean architectural lines allow the space to feel both modern and timeless, without relying on excessive decoration or visual noise.
At its core, the concept follows the philosophy of “arrival as experience,” where the environment is designed to be felt as much as it is seen. The interplay of monumental simplicity and atmospheric lighting creates a dynamic yet soothing ambiance. Movement through the space becomes a journey, with each step revealing subtle shifts in light, texture, and scale that enhance the overall experience.
The entrance hall ultimately acts as a threshold between the outside world and the more private, intimate areas of the aparthotel. It marks a transition not just in space, but in mood and mindset, gently guiding guests into a slower, more refined rhythm. By focusing on architectural clarity and emotional depth, the design creates a lasting impression that resonates beyond the moment of arrival.
